Bite-Sized: Tune-In Lounge Review

Walk on down to your aunt and uncle’s place; it’s time for Tune-In Lounge! Just in and to the left when you enter Hollywood Studios, Tune-In looks a bit hidden at first but the signage is so iconic that it’s hard to miss.

Overall Vibes

In the range of different ways a lounge can be placed–from being right at the entrance of a restaurant or off to the side, this lounge acts as the main waiting room for 50’s Prime-Time right as you walk in the door. For real, the room combines the bar itself toward the back half, and group seating for those awaiting restaurant tables on the front half.

It can get a bit crowded if you’re showing up closer to lunch or dinner time, but the ingenious layout helps keep it from being too crowded, since waiting families are given ample space to sit without taking up seats from those just looking to grab a drink.

Like most lounge bars, Tune-In handles the drink orders of its parent establishment while also acting as a standalone bar, so during dinner services the drink orders for both 50’s Prime-Time may back things up a bit.

Aesthetics & Cast Interaction

The aesthetic here is off the charts! Like 50’s Prime-Time, Tune-In Lounge is meant to feel like you’re stopping by family to hang for a drink or a bite to eat, and WOW do they nail it. The backdrop of the bar is built up like a stack of vintage televisions and there are all kinds of mid-century trinkets and tableware decorating the flat surfaces.

The cast members add to the experience, calling you fun familial terms like “nephew,” “cousin” or “aunty.” They deliver the sitcom sort of sass you’d expect to see on one of the televisions behind the bar, and they do it without being mean or unfriendly. If you just let the vibe take you away, it gets really close to feeling like you’ve jumped into the living room of a 1950s television show.

Drink Experience

The drink choices were a wide range, but they keep it pretty well on-theme. With drinks like “Dad’s Electric Lemonade” and “Grandma’s Picnic Punch,” there is something on the menu for everyone.

For us, some of the cocktail choices seemed to be pretty sweet based on what they’re made with–like “The Tune-In PB&J Cocktail” made with three kinds of booze and topped with a cherry–but there is a wide enough range of choices that we never felt like we needed to indulge our sweet tooth too heavily. Their take on a margarita was delicious, and their “Island Fusion Punch” hits the spot for tiki lovers.

Final Thoughts

This bar was a pleasant surprise. More than that, it has definitely made it onto our list of go-to park lounges.

For those who have never experienced it, the wide range of drink options combines with the aesthetic to make this a must-do within Hollywood Studios.
