The Drop Off Pool Bar

Hop on the Skyliner and be ready for the long-haul; it’s time to go to The Drop-Off!

This Nemo-themed bar is the sibling to Petals over at Pop Century, and though it lacks the charm of its flamboyant counterpart, The Drop Off is still a must-do as part of any Skyliner bar crawl.

Location & Vibes

The Drop Off is only a short walk from either the buses or the Skyliner, and walking a line between the two you would be hard-pressed to miss it. It is the bar for the largest of the three pools at Art Of Animation Resort and sits at the heart of the map just beyond the lobby. Not nearly as frightening or awe-inspiring as its in-movie namesake, The Drop Off is really just your basic run-of-the-mill pool bar. The decor is ocean-themed, and the way the colors of the building tie in with the surrounding umbrellas, the bar itself, and even the resort buildings in the background make it a bit of an overload of blues.

Offerings

Being ocean themed–or at least coral reef themed–The drinks here can be pretty colorful. As with most cocktails, bright colors often lead to sweeter flavors, and these drinks are no exception. They still have some great classics like the Banana Cabana and the Captain’s Mai Tai, but the drinks we had were bright in color and big on sweet. Of course, this can mask the bite of the alcohol, so this menu can be great for people who may not always want to get a little buzz going without tasting the alcohol too much. Food options at the bar itself are very limited, though the food court for the resort is literally steps away if you get hungry.

Seating

Seating here is a bit more limited, especially during parts of the day heavier in foot traffic like lunch or check-in/out times. More in-line with some of the higher-brow pool bars, most of the seating for The Drop Off is within the resort-only fencing for the pool, and on a sunny day you may find yourself without any umbrella-topped tables left outside of the pool fence. However, Art of Animation has a large footprint, so if you are not afraid to walk, there are plenty of places around the resort to enjoy your drinks if the bar is full.

The Adulting WDW Take

Overall, The Drop Off is worth the trip to do at least once.  It is easy to overlook if you never get to that end of the Skyliner, but that doesn’t make it any less worth it to try out, especially if you’re looking to complete the Skyliner bars or you’re looking to take the edge off after taking the wrong bus back to Pop Century. From colorful drinks to cozy pool vibes, The Drop Off has you covered.
