Best Romantic Stays at Disney World for Couples

It’s beyond exciting to plan a wedding — in my opinion, what’s even better is planning a honeymoon. If you plan on visiting Disney World, you get a special kind of experience. There’s the castle, the fireworks, the fancy dinners, and the built-in excuse to wear bride-and-groom ears with zero shame.

But the first question should always be: where should you stay at Disney World for a honeymoon?

Finding the best Disney World resort for your honeymoon is dependent on one major factor: your travel style. Do you want a classic romance feel? How about a more adult-friendly option with easy access to EPCOT? Are tropical drinks a must for you? That alone will help steer your answer.

Also, let’s get this out of the way: Disney World is family-friendly just about everywhere. There is no adults-only Disney resort, but some hotels absolutely feel more romantic and elevated than others.

That said, let’s break down the best Disney World honeymoon resorts based on your vibe, budget, and vacation style.

The Best Overall Disney World Honeymoon Resort: Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Best for: couples who want what many consider the iconic Disney honeymoon resort.

If your honeymoon fantasy includes an elegance of days gone by, easy Magic Kingdom access, and dinner by the water, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is the obvious classic.

The Grand Floridian is ideal for couples who want their Disney honeymoon to feel special the second they arrive, with easy access to Magic Kingdom and some of the most romantic dining options on Disney property. It’s also home to the Grand Floridian Spa, which makes it especially strong for couples who want a slower, pampering day built into their trip.

Why we like this resort for honeymooners:

  • Convenient access to Magic Kingdom, making midday breaks more accessible
  • Spa services right at the resort
  • Upscale bars and restaurants
  • Beautiful grounds for slow walks
  • A true “this feels special” trip feeling

Worth knowing: The Grand Floridian is usually one of the priciest Disney World resorts. If the budget allows, it can feel very honeymoon-worthy. If it makes the rest of the trip stressful, choose a less expensive resort and splurge on dining, fireworks, or a massage instead.

Best Disney World Honeymoon Resort for Adults: Disney’s Riviera Resort

Best for: couples who want a refined, modern Disney honeymoon with easy date-night access.

For a Disney World honeymoon that feels stylish without being stuffy, Disney’s Riviera Resort is one of the strongest picks on property.

Riviera has a polished, European-inspired design, a more grown-up atmosphere than many Disney resorts, and excellent access to both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios by Disney Skyliner. The resort also has villa-style accommodations, including smaller Tower Studios and larger villas, which can be great for honeymooners who want a little more space or a quieter home base.

This is the resort I’d recommend for couples who love EPCOT dining, cocktails around World Showcase, and the idea of floating back to the resort on the Skyliner after a long park day.

Why it works for a honeymoon:

  • Overall romantic, elegant atmosphere
  • Easy Skyliner access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios (if you or your partner are Star Wars fans, it’s not a bad area to be near!)
  • Great dining and lounge options
  • Feels more adult-oriented than many Disney resorts
  • Beautiful for slower resort mornings

Adulting WDW take: So, getting from Hollywood Studios and EPCOT back to the Riviera is pretty straightforward. You have a nice dinner, a nighttime stroll as the park closes, and a Skyliner ride or two back. Getting to the parks can sometimes be a challenge.

For example, you may have to wait longer to get to EPCOT during the early to mid-afternoon because a gondola might not have available space. We’ve had several occasions where we’ve had to wait a significant amount of time because the gondolas were too packed.

Getting to Hollywood Studios isn’t too complicated in the morning, but you might have a wait as families come home from EPCOT in the evening.

It’s not a deal-breaker by any means: it’s just something to be aware of as you make your travel decisions.

Best Tropical Honeymoon Resort: Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Best for: couples who want a laid-back, vacation-within-a-vacation honeymoon.

If your honeymoon mood board says palm trees, tiki drinks, fireworks, and “I would like to pretend I’m on an island even though I’m in Central Florida,” book Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

The Polynesian is one of Disney World’s most romantic resorts because it feels relaxed and transportive. You’re near Magic Kingdom, connected by monorail, and surrounded by tropical landscaping, beachy lagoon views, and some of the best lounge energy on property. It’s one of our favorite resorts and, by far.

Why it works for a honeymoon:

  • Tropical, relaxed atmosphere
  • Monorail access to Magic Kingdom
  • Great cocktails and casual dining
  • Lagoon views and evening stroll potential
  • Feels romantic without feeling formal

Adulting WDW take: The Polynesian is popular with families, especially because of its Magic Kingdom access. For a more romantic stay, consider booking a room category or building location that keeps you closer to the vibe you want, and plan some resort time outside the busiest pool hours. The lobby can also be hectic and loud, so I wouldn’t recommend sitting there too long unless you’re waiting for a table.

Best Honeymoon Resort for EPCOT Lovers: Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Best for: couples who want EPCOT as their backyard. I mean, it’s right there!

For couples who know their honeymoon will involve EPCOT dinners, wine flights, festival booths, and walking back to the room instead of waiting for a bus, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is a dream.

Yacht Club is walking distance to EPCOT and offers boat transportation to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It shares the Stormalong Bay pool area with Beach Club, which is one of the most popular resort pool complexes at Disney World. The resort also has a more grown-up, nautical feel than its brighter, beachier sister next door.

Why it works for a honeymoon:

  • Walkable to EPCOT
  • Easy access to Hollywood Studios by boat
  • More adult-feeling than Beach Club
  • Great for pool time
  • Strong dining and lounge access nearby

Adulting WDW tip: Yacht Club is one of the best resorts for a honeymoon during EPCOT festival season. You can snack, sip, stroll, and head back to the room without turning the end of the night into a transportation saga. Disney knows this, so you might see some significant peak price surges around the opening of festivals and holidays.

Best Honeymoon Resort for Nightlife: Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

Best for: couples who want nightlife and convenience.

If your ideal Disney honeymoon includes evening drinks, waterfront walks, EPCOT access, and a little “let’s not go to bed yet” energy, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn deserves a spot on your list.

BoardWalk gives you access to the Crescent Lake area, walking paths to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, and several dining and lounge options nearby. Disney’s BoardWalk area has a lively, nostalgic atmosphere that works well for couples who want something more energetic than secluded. In the early morning, a stroll along the lake is tranquil. At night? You have entertainers, nightclubs, awesome dining, and some very popular lounges all nestled within a short walk.

Why it works for a honeymoon:

  • Walkable to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios
  • Fun evening atmosphere
  • Great for drinks and date nights
  • Close to Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan, and Dolphin dining areas
  • Romantic waterfront setting

It’s a solid option, and one that should definitely be considered if resort amenities are your thing. If you’re looking for a more relaxing experience, you might want to consider our next option.

Best Quiet Disney World Honeymoon Resort: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Best for: couples who want quiet luxury, an immersive atmosphere, and a unique Disney stay.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is perfect for couples who want their honeymoon to feel a little slower, richer, and more removed from the theme park chaos.

This resort is all about atmosphere. Think warm lighting, incredible architecture, peaceful overlooks, animal viewing areas, and some of the best dining at Walt Disney World. Disney describes the resort as featuring exotic animals, pools, and award-winning dining, and the savanna-view rooms are the big honeymoon splurge here. Think about waking up, having a cup of coffee, and seeing a zebra — all without having to travel out of the country!

It’s a bucket list resort for us (10/10). Every time we walk in, there’s a mix of opulence and grandeur with globally-inspired architecture and earth-toned detailing. It’s especially gorgeous around the holidays.

Why it works for a honeymoon:

  • Peaceful, immersive setting
  • Savanna-view rooms feel special
  • Excellent restaurants and lounges
  • Great for slower mornings
  • Usually feels more removed from the busiest resort areas

Worth knowing: Animal Kingdom Lodge relies heavily on bus transportation to the parks. If you want to walk, monorail, boat, or Skyliner everywhere, this is not your best match. But if you want to splurge on rideshare, you could easily get around without bus crowds.

Best Cozy Romantic Resort: Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Best for: couples who want rustic romance close to Magic Kingdom.

For honeymooners who want something romantic but not overly fancy, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful middle ground.

The atmosphere is rustic and warm yet dramatic and energizing. With a grand lobby, piney lodge energy, and surrounded by beautiful landscaping – it’s as if you stepped right into the Northwestern U.S. You can access many of the theme parks and Disney Springs by bus; or, you can take a boat from the dock to Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

Why it works for a honeymoon:

  • Cozy, romantic atmosphere
  • Boat access to Magic Kingdom
  • Beautiful lobby and grounds
  • Great for couples who like a quieter resort feel
  • Less formal than Grand Floridian

Adulting WDW tip: Wilderness Lodge is especially lovely for a cooler-weather honeymoon. It has that “glass of wine by the fireplace after fireworks” feeling, which is very much the assignment.

Best Moderate Resort for a Disney World Honeymoon: Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs

Best for: couples who want style and value.

Not every Disney honeymoon needs to be Deluxe or bust. Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is one of the best choices for couples who want a more grown-up atmosphere without the Deluxe price tag.

Coronado Springs has Spanish, Mexican, and Southwest American design influences, and Gran Destino Tower adds a sleek hotel feel that works well for adults. The resort also has several dining and lounge options, including Dahlia Lounge and Toledo.

Why it works for a honeymoon:

  • More adult-feeling than many Moderate resorts
  • Stylish tower rooms
  • Strong dining and bar scene
  • Usually more budget-friendly than Deluxe resorts
  • Great “we want nice, but not $900 a night nice” option

Worth knowing: Coronado Springs uses bus transportation. The resort is beautiful, but it is not walkable to a theme park. If transportation convenience is your top honeymoon priority, Riviera, Yacht Club, BoardWalk, Grand Floridian, or Polynesian may be a better fit.

Best Budget-Friendly Romantic Resort: Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside

Best for: couples who want romantic charm on a more reasonable budget.

If you want charm without totally blowing the honeymoon budget, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside is a lovely pick.

Riverside is a very picturesque, vast resort. The low country-inspired theme gives it more romantic personality than most budget-friendly Disney hotels, and it has boat transportation to Disney Springs. You can also visit River Roost in the evening, a lively lounge with Southern-inspired cocktails and live entertainment on select nights.

Why it works for a honeymoon:

  • Romantic Louisiana-inspired setting
  • Boat access to Disney Springs
  • A plethora of pools (including quiet areas)
  • Usually more affordable than Deluxe resorts

The Adulting WDW Take: Where Should You Stay at Disney World for a Honeymoon?

The best place to stay at Disney World for a honeymoon is Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa if you want classic luxury, romance, and Magic Kingdom convenience.

But the best choice for your honeymoon may be different:

  • Choose Grand Floridian for the iconic splurge.
  • Choose Riviera for stylish adult Disney vibes.
  • Choose Polynesian for tropical romance.
  • Choose Yacht Club for EPCOT date nights.
  • Choose BoardWalk Inn for nightlife and walkability.
  • Choose Animal Kingdom Lodge for quiet, immersive romance.
  • Choose Wilderness Lodge for cozy, rustic charm.
  • Choose Gran Destino Tower for the best Moderate honeymoon feel.
  • Choose Port Orleans Riverside for affordable romance.

A Disney World honeymoon does not have to be all champagne and Club Level to be romantic. Sometimes it’s fireworks from the Polynesian beach, a quiet savanna-view coffee at Animal Kingdom Lodge, or walking hand-in-hand back from EPCOT while everyone else waits for transportation.

Pick the resort that matches the honeymoon you actually want — not just the one that looks fanciest on paper.

Because the best Disney honeymoon resort is the one that makes you say, “Yep, this feels like us.”
