Recently, my husband and I wanted to try something different: Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (also called “MNSSHP”). Since it’s just the two of us, we were hesitant to pay an extra cost to get into Magic Kingdom. Would we have fun? Is it worth it without kids?
I’ll start with a TLDR; Yes, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party can absolutely be worth it for adults without kids, but only if you value what makes the party different from a normal night at Magic Kingdom.
Ultimately, the exclusive moments and low ride times make the extra ticket a solid investment. If you’re after one premium splurge, I’d argue this is a strong option.

What Is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party?
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a separately-ticketed Halloween event at Magic Kingdom. It’s offered on select nights from early August through October, with 2026 dates running from August 7th to October 31st.
The party itself runs from 7:00PM to midnight, but you can get into the park as early as 4:00PM without needing regular admission.
The cost is steep and ranges from $119 to $229 per person, plus tax. The closer you get to Halloween, the more expensive it becomes.
Tickets are also limited, and many dates sell out weeks in advance. If it’s something you’re considering booking, then sooner is better.
What Makes MNSSHP Worth It (Or Not)
Our verdict is pretty simple: yes, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is worth it for adults without kids. That said, we’d recommend MNSSHP primarily if:
- You really want the exclusive Halloween entertainment or character experiences
- You want a night focused heavily on rides with potentially shorter waits
Everything else (the candy, costumers, seasonal food, merchandise) is additional value, but we wouldn’t personally spend $200+ solely for those things.
MNSSHP Is Probably Worth It If…
- Boo-To-You Parade (aka, the best parade at Disney World) is on your bucket list
- You love Disney villains or Halloween characters
- Unique character meets are important to you
- You want a different version of Magic Kingdom than the regularly-schedule program
- You plan to spend a fair amount of time on riding attractions
- You’ve already visited Magic Kingdom several times and want something different
- You’re willing to stay through most (or all) of the party
MNSSHP Is Probably Not Worth It If…
- You’re mainly interested in snacks
- You just want Halloween decorations and atmosphere
- Trick-or-treating isn’t on your list
- Characters don’t matter to you
- You plan to leave early
- This is your only opportunity to experience Magic Kingdom
- If paying $200+ will meaningfully cut into things you’d enjoy more elsewhere on your trip

If you’re a show or parade person like me, you’ll love MNSSHP. This year (2026), we experienced Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, and party-exclusive entertainment throughout Magic Kingdom.
Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade
This nighttime parade is one of the best throughout the year. From the Headless Horseman to the Haunted Mansion performers and Disney villains to unique character sightings, it’s one you don’t want to miss.
Adulting WDW Pro Tip: This parade runs twice a night during the event. Go go the second showing, when most of the littles are heading home. If you want a good spot, I’d start looking for a spot about 30 minutes beforehand.
Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular
Fireworks are one of those iconic events when visiting Magic Kingdom. For MNSSHP, the show transforms to a Halloween celebration in the sky. Lead by Jack Skellington and featuring impressive projections against Cinderella Castle, the show brings together all those things we love about Halloween.
Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular
If you’re after a show with nostalgia, villains, and theatrical appeal, the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular is a treat. It’s a really fun show, and I would argue it’s worth the wait more than the fireworks.
Adulting WDW Pro Tip: Head to the castle after the second parade showing to catch the midnight finale. It’s a great way to end the evening!
Reason #2 to Go: Lower Ride Waits
If you’re not a character or show person but love rides, the low wait times may be the reason you book your ticket. If you’re like us and hate going through lines in the August heat, the nighttime temperatures can help.
When we went to MNSSHP, ride wait times were very low. I’m talking, at most, 45 minutes for TRON. Nearly everything else was a 5-15 minute wait.
There are a substantial number of rides open during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary, including Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan’s Flight, Space Mountain, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and TRON. Of course, availability is subject to change.
That said, I’m not going to promise an empty park. The walkways and surrounding character queues or entertainment areas can create some congestion and still feel busy.
Halloween Overlays for Rides
Beyond shorter wait times, some attractions have party-specific overlays. For example, Space Mountain is in pitch-black darkness with Halloween music. The Mad Tea Party in Fantasyland has special lighting (which is very bizarre but in a fun way). Even Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor has a unique show as you walk through the trick-or-treat area.
If you’ve been on these rides a million times and want to try something new, this alone might have enough appeal.

Is It Weird to Trick-or-Treat at MNSSHP?
I mean, no? It’s included with your ticket. It’s fun, nostalgic, and you leave with an absurd amount of candy. Like, a lot.
But, would we buy a $150+ ticket just to trick-or-treat? Absolutely not.
Candy adds value, but it’s not enough value alone. Still, it is a lot of candy…
Is MNSSHP Worth It Just for the Halloween Atmosphere?
Consider atmosphere a bonus. Main Street after dark, with all the glowing pumpkins, is gorgeous. The ability to wear costumes brings back the childhood. Halloween music and pop-up entertainment make the event feel exclusive. And, to be honest, the atmosphere caters heavily to the Haunted Mansion fans (which isn’t a bad thing).
But, atmosphere alone is hard to justify at a ticket price that can reach $229. If you’re after Halloween decorations and care about nothing else, you might want to save your money.
Are the Exclusive MNSSHP Foods and Drinks Worth the Ticket?
I’ll say it time and time again: don’t buy a party ticket because of Instagrammable cupcakes. The MNSSHP food is fun, but it can take away valuable party time. Besides candy, these exclusive food and drink items cost extra. Plus, there are plenty of seasonal Disney treats outside of the party.
If you’re primarily interested in food and drinks, there are considerably better ways to spend $150-$200+ around Walt Disney World. Like, a nice dinner at Narcoosee’s with fireworks viewing. Or plenty of small plates and cocktails around EPCOT!
Can adults wear costumes at MNSSHP?
Heck yeah! We saw some pretty elaborate costumes during our time there; however, I’m not sure if I would brave the Florida heat in August to wear one! A simple themed outfit (like a solid Disney bound) would suffice.
