Bite-Sized: Geyser Point Bar & Grill Review

Drinks at Geyser Point Bar and Grill

Through the mountains of the hotel pool and off to Geyser Point! This pool bar is tucked back and away than most pool bars, but it wouldn’t fit the theme of Wilderness Lodge if it didn’t require a bit of a trek to get there.

Overall Vibes

At first, we had to ask directions from cast members on how to get there — side note; the cast members at Wilderness Lodge were so polite! — and I was surprised at how far they stash this place from the main lobby.

That distance likely exists for a reason, as you get really good views across the water of Bay Lake toward the old Discovery Island and over to the new Vacation Club hotel that’s going in.

For starters, this bar was busy. Aside from the pool areas this is the next main space for the tenants of Wilderness Lodge to hang out. They have a great system between the bartenders to keep things rolling, and we never once felt like we were forgotten while seated at the bar.

Being a fully outdoor bar in an area mostly surrounded by trees, bees, hornets, and flies were a bit of a problem. I suppose that just comes with the territory.

For an outdoor pool bar, this bar slides a bit in the direction of a sports bar. We were there during college basketball season, and we had eyes on three different games at once from our seat at the bar. Not a bad thing, for sure, but it definitely takes away from the outdoorsy aesthetic of the rest of the resort.

Aesthetics & Drink Experience

This bar has got to be one of the most open-air pool bars that exists among the Four original Magic Kingdom resorts, and maybe even beyond that — aside from some of the grab-and-go bars like Petals or The Drop Off.

The ceilings are high, you’d likely get wet if there were any kind of wind with the rain, and as the sun goes down you might end fully in the sun if you’re in the wrong seat.

Thankfully we had some seats at the bar which is further toward the center of the structure. The seating was comfortable and we had a nice breeze to keep us cool while we sat.

Like most pool bars, their selection is wider than that of an indoor hotel lounge. However, this means that there should be something for everyone. Despite the bees, they had an impressive range of drinks on tap.

Final Thoughts

On the whole, this bar is a good spot to relax on a gorgeous day if you happen to find yourself with the time to get there and good weather.

It’s definitely worth the trip to do at least one time, and if you’re not already staying at Wilderness Lodge, you can get a really neat boat ride included to get you to the resort, as well as a good walking view of the full range of the Fort Wilderness aesthetic.
