Petals Pool Bar

Hop on the Skyliner or take the bus — do whatever you need to do to get yourself over to Pop Century, because it’s time to go to Petals!

The one, and only, pool bar for the entire Pop Century Resort, Petals Pool Bar offers refreshment literally right out of the gate as you exit any of the rear doors of the main lobby. Call it unassuming, hidden, even cute, this twelve seat bar brings massive retro charm.

Location

Coming from the buses at the front of the resort, Petals is tough to miss, unless you have the misfortune to be placed into the 80s or 90s buildings which is really the only way to get around it. Petals lies beside the Hippy Dippy pool; the heart and soul of the resort at the core of the 60s buildings, and the bright colors of the decor, chairs, and the surrounding umbrella tables really catches the eye. From the buses it’s just a short trek through the lobby, and from the Skyliner it’s less than one-tenth of a mile through the 60s and past the pool.

Offerings

Petals serves what I could call “beach fare,” combining citrus and rum flavors for many of their drinks. The Captain’s Mai Tai is a hard-hitting–and affordable–rum drink that is perfect for hot days when you just can’t seem to cool off. However, if we’re talking high-octane drinks, the Ultimate Long Island Iced Tea is the clear winner (an Adulting WDW favorite!): 4 different liquors with sour mix and cola come together to create a cold beverage that can hit like a truck if you’re going at it on an empty stomach. Like with most Long Island iced teas, it’s the best “bang for your buck” if you’re looking to kick things off quickly.

Food options at Petals are limited. They have a rotating warmer full of pretzels that are served with cheese dip–though nothing as high-quality as the pretzels at someplace like Baseline Taphouse at Hollywood Studios – and sometimes they will have small plates like salads or chicken wings, but that isn’t always, and that isn’t the point! Petals takes the role of “pool bar” very seriously, and in that realm it delivers. The resort food court, Everything POP, is only steps away. Pop handles the food, Petals handles the drinks. And oh do they handle it well!

Seating & Vibes

Seating can be limited, depending on the time of day and the weather. During check-in hours it can get a bit congested with people waiting for their rooms to be ready and during on-site activities or pool parties it can get cluttered with parents looking for a break while their kids are distracted.

Furthermore, there is not much in the way of coverage from the rain, and you would find yourself getting soaked in any rainstorm that had even a bit of wind.

Depending on the time of day or year, there can be any number of seats at the bar. At slow times there can be up to twelve chairs at the bar, but during busy parts of the day it is mostly grab-and-go and there may only be four or five seats at the bar itself. Thankfully, there are tables with umbrellas sprinkled all around the Hippy Dippy pool, so it is rare to not find a seat if you plan on sticking around.

The Adulting WDW Take

Do what you need to do to get to this bar at least once. The cast members are always so welcoming and the vibes are relaxed and carefree that it’s easy to fit in even if you’re not actually staying at Pop Century. Whether you’ve just checked in, are pregaming a Skyliner trip to World Showcase, or are just looking to get something in the mid-afternoon to beat the heat, Petals has you covered.
